How to Find Your NinjaTrader 8 Machine ID

Quick guide to locate your NinjaTrader 8 Machine ID for NinjaScript add-ons that require hardware-based licensing.

Note: Quick Trade Ninja does not require your Machine ID for licensing. QTN uses a simpler license key system. This guide is for NinjaTrader users who need their Machine ID for other third-party add-ons.

What is a NinjaTrader Machine ID?

A NinjaTrader Machine ID is a unique identifier that NinjaTrader 8 assigns to your computer based on your hardware configuration. Some third-party NinjaScript add-ons use this ID for hardware-based licensing.

How to Find Your Machine ID

Finding your NinjaTrader 8 Machine ID takes about 30 seconds:

  1. Open NinjaTrader 8 Control Center
  2. Click Help in the menu bar
  3. Click About
  4. Your Machine ID will be displayed (e.g., A1B2C3D4E5F6)

Tip: You can copy the Machine ID by selecting it and pressing Ctrl+C.

Common Issues

Machine ID Not Showing

If the Machine ID field is blank:

  • Restart NinjaTrader 8
  • Run NinjaTrader as Administrator
  • Ensure you have the latest NinjaTrader version

Machine ID Changed

Your Machine ID may change if you:

  • Replaced major hardware (motherboard, hard drive)
  • Reinstalled Windows
  • Made significant BIOS changes
